Story: On a visit to the Musée d'Orsay in Paris, the Doctor and Amy are admiring a gallery of Vincent van Gogh's paintings when the Doctor notices something odd: in The Church at Auvers, an unusual face is peering out one of the windows, and it's "not a nice face at all." Their only option, decides the Doctor, is to pay an immediate visit to van Gogh himself, and find out what the thing in the window is.
The TARDIS brings them to Provence in 1890, a few days before van Gogh paints The Church at Auvers. They discover him in a café, too impoverished to pay for a drink and ridiculed as talentless by the owner and the wait staff. Befriending him, Amy and the Doctor wrangle an invitation to his home, where they discover that van Gogh himself believes his paintings to be worthless... and where an invisible creature attacks Amy. Now on the trail of the beast in the painting, the Doctor and Amy must rely on the mentally-disturbed van Gogh for help, and perhaps find a way to help him with his skewed self-worth in return.
