Story: A picnic in Central Park comes to an abrupt end when the Doctor, reading aloud to Amy a noir thriller he found in his jacket while Rory goes for refreshments, comes upon the following passage: "I followed the skinny guy for two more blocks before he turned and I could ask exactly what he was doing here. He looked a little scared, so I gave him my best smile and my bluest eyes. He said, 'I just went to get coffees for the Doctor and Amy.' "
Rory has indeed been transported to April 1938, where he and River Song become unwilling guests of a wealthy collector named Grayle. Among Grayle's varied, expensive tastes are ancient Chinese vases, fine paintings, tapestries... and statues. Most recently, and most especially, statues that move when you're not looking. As Grayle prepares to leave Rory and River at the mercy of the Weeping Angels, the Doctor and Amy must fight their way through the temporal interference that makes it nearly impossible for the TARDIS to materialize in the right place and time to rescue them. But even more sinister than Grayle's human greed is the Angels' true purpose for their occupation of New York City... which will draw the TARDIS crew into the heart of their plans.
