Story: Upon arrival in rural northern Norway, 2018, the Doctor becomes intrigued by a nearby cottage at the edge of the woods, boarded up, with a chimney conspicuously lacking smoke. Concerned that something might be wrong, the TARDIS crew break in, where they discover a young girl named Hanne hiding in a cupboard. Hanne is petrified: after boarding up the house four days ago, her dad disappeared, on the same day that an unseen creature began howling in the forest and hunting her in the evenings.

As darkness approaches, Hanne urges them to stop investigating and head back into the house, from the safety of which they can hear the roaring thing in the woods. But Graham, keeping a lookout from the upper floor, notices something else strange: a mirror, in Hanne's dad's bedroom, which emits a strange vibration and casts no reflection...
