Story: Shortly after the TARDIS crashlands just outside Sevastopol in 1855, the TARDIS travellers are involuntarily split up. The Doctor, remaining in Crimea, finds herself on the eve of battle, assisting Mrs Mary Seacole with the wounded while trying desperately to persuade Lieutenant General Logan to retreat from tomorrow's skirmish. Because what the Doctor knows, though nobody else seems to realize, is that Logan's army is not supposed to be fighting the Sontarans...

Meanwhile, Dan copes with being back home in Liverpool, days after the Sontarans have taken over his city and instituted martial law. But Yaz finds herself flung across space and time, arriving in a mysterious ancient temple with anxious guardians who insist that repairs must be undertaken immediately. While the Doctor and Dan fight to repel the Sontarans, Yaz' attempt to help the temple guardians will bring her face to face with an old adversary of the Doctor's.
