Megalomaniac of the Week: Roger ap Gwilliam

Story: Barely have they set foot outside the TARDIS for a fresh-air stroll along the rugged Welsh seaside cliffs than the Doctor inadvertently tramples on a mystical circle, breaking the bound strands of cotton yarn strung with peculiar objects like bird skulls and scrolls. Ruby kneels down for a closer investigation of the mysterious pattern, but when she looks up again, the Doctor has vanished, the TARDIS has locked her out... and an old woman hovers in the near distance, gesticulating and whispering something Ruby can't make out.

The old woman continues to hover just out of Ruby's reach - a consistent distance away, no matter where Ruby moves, though not always in the same direction - as she hikes down the coastline toward the nearby town of Glyngatwg, where Ruby hopes to find someone who can help her track down the Doctor. But something deeper is amiss, as Ruby discovers when a helpful hiker goes to chat with the mysterious woman only to flee, screaming in terror, after giving Ruby a horrified look. And in the firelit pub where Ruby takes refuge, the patrons recoil from her tale of breaking the circle in the hills, for Ruby may have just unleashed Mad Jack himself.
