Story: As thanks for her help, the Doctor takes Martha for a trip in the TARDIS, back in time to Elizabethan England - 1599, to be precise. Realizing that they've materialized close to the Globe Theatre, the Doctor excitedly takes Martha to see a live original performance of Love's Labour's Lost, followed by a gracious bow from the author himself. Martha is delighted to see Shakespeare in person, and his announcement that he will soon be débuting his sequel, Love's Labour's Won, piques the Doctor's interest. By Martha's time, Love's Labour's Won is known as the lost Shakespearean play - so what happened to it? Realizing that they may be in a unique position to solve that particular mystery, the Doctor decides to extend Martha's trip and investigate.

What neither the Doctor or Shakespeare realizes is that a trio of mysterious women are hovering in the shadows, manipulating events. Stirring their cauldron and muttering incantations, they have hijacked Shakespeare's pen in order to write the words that could free their trapped race and destroy the Earth. The Doctor and Shakespeare must combine their wits and genius to stop them - but how do you defend yourself against an enemy who can destroy you using nothing more than a lock of your hair?
