the eighth Doctor

The eighth Doctor is probably the most human of all the incarnations. Unlike the somewhat distant personalities of all who preceded him, this Doctor is effusively friendly and very approachable. He is more passionate about what he is doing, and about life in general, than any other Doctor - even going so far as to kiss his companion Grace three times! He expresses his vulnerabilities more readily to his companions, and is afraid of heights. With a ready smile and easygoing nature, this Doctor seems less detached than most of his predecessors. It is therefore not as surprising that it is the eighth Doctor who chooses to reveal that his heritage is half-human - a fact previously unrevealed, although it explains the Doctor's predilection for Earth and its occupants.

But there is still an alien quality to the eighth Doctor. Along with the increase in humanity comes a child-like wonder and glee. And the eighth Doctor is likely to drop hints about people's futures - perhaps the knowledge is a result of his manipulative seventh persona.

Like the previous Doctors, the eighth cannot resist dropping names, and peppers his conversation with mentions of famous characters that he has met. He also shares a fondness for jelly babies with the fourth Doctor, and makes use of a new sonic screwdriver which was apparently rebuilt by the seventh Doctor. But in contrast to the seventh Doctor, the eighth is extremely spontaneous, frequently making up plans as he goes.

The eighth Doctor has fairly long, wavy light brown hair. His outfit is composed of bits of other people's party costumes - collared shirt, green cravat, silk waistcoat and a dark green velvet coat, giving him a rather Victorian air.
