Hooray! Almost 3 years later, with my everlasting thanks again to Shayne, the site is back online, and hopefully at a more permanent and stable home: https://doctorwhofromato7q.com/

After being practically done since last June 16, I've finally put the finishing polish on...
22 October 2026
With my eternal gratitude to longtime reader Shayne, the site will be coming back online soon. I've had a new website home since December 2025, but it dawned on me a couple of years ago that my archive was incomplete: I'd never transferred my pandemic-era updates over to my external hard drive, so the only offline copies that existed were on my laptop and a USB, both of which were in the backpack that was stolen in February 2023. With the website offline, those files were inaccessible. As you can see from my 2023 update below (on May 15), I hadn't yet realized that I had no backup copies of any of my updates from 2020 onward, so I completely missed my chance to download the site when it came back online briefly in December 2022 for what may have been the very last time. Once I realized that I was missing the 9 to 11 reviews that I'd written between 2020 to 2022, oh, how I despaired!, especially as it became apparent that the site might be irretrievable. After years of anxiety, fearing that I might have lost them forever, Shayne came to my rescue, and sent me a copy not only of my missing reviews but practically the whole site as of October 2022, which means I should have even recovered the minor updates and edits that I made. My relief is palpable! Thank you, Shayne, from the bottom of my heart!

With the site having been down again for months, I've been dragging my feet on finishing this review, but I'll upload it once the site is restored:

With the decline of Twitter/X and the rise of Bluesky, I've also created a Bluesky account. I look forward to being able to post updates there soon!
15 May 2023
What a year. After getting distracted for months by my family recipe-card scanning project (which I still haven't finished!), I finally completed my review for Legend of the Sea Devils on October 18, a few days before The Power of the Doctor aired. But this site was down from May to December 2022, so I couldn't upload it. I figured I might as well wait to upload them both until I had the final polish on my Power of the Doctor review, but between travel in December and February, and a heavy workload (plus the site going down again) from February to April, I hadn't gotten around to finishing and uploading it before I left for Europe at the end of March. And then, for the first time in my life, I fell victim to an overseas robbery: the day I was leaving Paris, I checked my luggage with the hotel front desk, and 90 minutes later, the woman in the room next to mine swiped my backpack from the lobby as she was checking out. In it, along with my passport and keyring, was my laptop and a USB I've had for decades, which between them contained both copies of all my pending site updates. A month later, the hotel has been zero help, nor have the French police alerted me to any leads — even though the hotel supposedly knows her name and address! — so I've given them up for lost. Thank goodness I'd had the foresight to e-mail myself a copy of the final-draft Legend of the Sea Devils review, or I'd really be despairing; all I needed to piece back together were the minor updates to pages like this one (on which I'm sure I'd written an October 18 update about how the Legend review would eventually be uploaded once the site came back online; but that's no big loss!).
29 October 2021
Just a small delay in polishing up my final draft! Apparently it took roughly a year (until February 2021) for me to reach my tolerance for living 24/7 amongst my own piles of books and assorted clutter, which drove me to assemble a bunch of new organizational furniture, pack up several boxes to relocate to my storage unit, clean out and reorganize my storage unit, donate boxes full of old belongings, digitize a few dozen VHS tapes and photo slides and negatives, create a website for family recipes, and type up and scan hundreds of handwritten recipe cards (I'm roughly halfway done at this point! just one four-drawer file left to go...). But now it's time to turn my attention back to my favorite television show of all time!
31 December 2020 (and good riddance)
21 October 2020
Hooray! The site came back online again two or three days ago, just in time for me to upload my backlogged reviews plus...
29 September 2020
Well, as of September 25, the site is offline yet again, but this time I've decided to forge ahead with reviews anyway. I'll just upload them (and announce them) in one big batch once we're back up and running.

- Review added: Shada (I never thought I'd be typing that!)
23 December 2019
After a long break — the site was down from April 16 through December 15 due to a server malfunction — I am delighted to finally be uploading this review that's been in progress since March!
07 March 2019
Hoo boy, and I thought it was embarrassing that it took me four years to complete Round 3. Just over SEVEN YEARS LATER, I am finally completing Round 4. C'mon, dude, speed it up a little. Still, it feels good to have finally reached this milestone, so I'm going to bask in the glow for a moment!

Well, this was a long time coming! A trip to Iceland just after the finale derailed my review schedule big time, and after several visits from and to family, and another trip to Amsterdam and the UK, I'm finally putting everything else on hold to put the final polish on my draft review from July 26.
09 August 2016
And now I'm all caught up! And it only took me sevenish months.
17 June 2016
Finishing up my backlog... (This one's been pending since September!)
12 June 2016
Finally catching up on some of my backlog, which has been delayed much later than expected because of my uncertainty about how to group them, plus — ahem — a holiday trip to New Orleans, followed by a friend staying with me for an indeterminate period of time which ended up being 9 weeks, followed immediately by a horrible cold that lasted for 7 weeks, followed immediately by a conference trip to the UK, followed by my cousin visiting for 2 weeks, followed by a week and a half recuperating from surgery. 2016 has been quite the nonstop year. So The Husbands of River Song will be forthcoming, but for now, I at least wanted to upload the tail end of season 9. Original dates of more-or-less completion — there was some extensive final polishing to be done before I could post them — are: Face the Raven (29 November), Heaven Sent (05 December), and Hell Bent (25 December).
19 November 2015
So I was not wrong to suspect that my reviewing schedule might hit a snag! The combination of a two-week trip followed immediately by a two-week visit with family meant that my time available for reviewing was severely limited, but I've managed to just about keep pace, although I haven't had time to polish and post anything until now. Actual dates of completion, barring a few last-minute tweaks, are: Under the Lake / Before the Flood (31 October), The Girl Who Died / The Woman Who Lived (04 November), The Zygon Invasion / The Zygon Inversion (15 November), and Sleep No More (19 November).
03 October 2015
We'll see if I'm able to maintain my reviewing schedule in the coming weeks (I have a feeling real life may slow me down!) but for now...
29 July 2015
- Review added: Vengeance on Varos (and about time, too; I've been working on it since last September!)
10 November 2013
- Review added: The Enemy of the World
Wow, does it ever feel neat to type that. Now I sort of regret my "stories must be complete" rule, or I could've reviewed The Web of Fear too! But watching The Enemy of the World has only made me realize even more just how many important details I'd miss without the visuals.
09 October 2013
- Review added: The Seeds of Doom
I was planning to start on a Pertwee story next, but if the rumors are indeed true, then I think I'll be wanting to go slightly further back. :D :D
04 September 2013
Finally surfacing from what I believe is my longest backlog ever, thanks to my being out of town for five consecutive weekends, on trips to North Carolina, England and Vancouver. I was actually maintaining my schedule until that midweek trip to Vancouver put me two reviews behind, and since then it's been a mad dash to catch up. Actual dates of completion for these reviews are: The Rings of Akhaten (13 April), Cold War (20 April), Hide (29 April), Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS (11 May), The Crimson Horror (16 May), Nightmare in Silver (19 May), and The Name of the Doctor (07 August, with additional tweaks through 04 September).
24 March 2013
- Review added: Dragonfire
This marks a momentous occasion for me: I have now completed my first full season of reviews from the classic series. It feels only appropriate that season 24 should be the first!
19 February 2012
- Review added: Full Circle
Thus ends Round 3, after just over four years (!). I would've had this done weeks ago, if Gmail hadn't gone and wiped my first draft. It's amazing what a staggering loss even six paragraphs can be... I don't know how Ben Aaronovitch coped when the entirety of So Vile a Sin was wiped! Oh, and a big hello to Gareth Roberts; "it's an honor to have you as a reader" doesn't even begin to cover it!
20 December 2011
- Review added: Revenge of the Cybermen. Would've been finished a little faster if I'd remembered to save my notes on episodes 2 through 4 the first time, before my laptop rebooted itself and erased them all!
11 December 2011
- Review added: Planet of Giants. This may well turn out to be my last-ever review from a VHS tape!
04 December 2011
Visits from friends and the need to track down a pesky quote have gotten me backlogged again! Actual dates of completion for these reviews are: The Girl Who Waited (September 18), The God Complex (September 23), Closing Time (October 09) and The Wedding of River Song (October 20, with a couple of updates thereafter).
27 July 2010
Wow, did Hong Kong slow me down or what? I was able to keep up with the reviews more-or-less on time (until the finale; The Big Bang aired as I was flying home, and then I had to play a lot of catch-up), but I ran out of time to prep all the accompanying episode pages, so I figured I'd just wait and upload them all at once. Actual dates of completion are: The Hungry Earth / Cold Blood (June 6), Vincent and the Doctor (June 16), The Lodger (June 24) and the big delay, The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang (July 25).
29 May 2010
- Review added: Amy's Choice (it's been done since last Sunday, I just haven't had a chance to upload it!)
- Episode page added: Amy's Choice
10 March 2010
- Decided to join the twenty-first century (in all respects bar HTML design) and launch the site on Twitter. If you'd like to be alerted when new reviews are posted, I'll be announcing them there.
23 March 2008
- Review added: The Gunfighters. (My poor VCR finally got mostly-fixed last month, but the delay derailed my regular review schedule! And here comes season 4...)
28 January 2008
- Review added: The Claws of Axos. (My VCR may be unfixable, owing to a lack of parts suppliers! Waaah!)
22 January 2008
- Review added: The Stones of Blood. While my poor sick VCR is in the shop getting fixed, I'm limited to stories I can review off DVD. (Fortunately, they said it would be fixed in about 4 days... but that was on the 14th.)
- I also finally got around to changing the e-mail graphic on my main page. That silly Hotmail account keeps lapsing on me and erasing all my e-mails because I never think to check it, and I know I've at least missed an e-mail from my elementary-school friend Peter, so better to get it changed and not have to worry about such things any more.
04 January 2008
- Review added: Terror of the Vervoids. Delayed more than a little when my tape decided to become unplayable halfway through!
09 December 2007
- Review added: Silver Nemesis. And with that, I have finally completed Round 2!
08 October 2007
- Review added: The Robots of Death (this was meant to be a happy-third-anniversary review, but time got away from me...)
30 May 2007
Finally posting a backlog of reviews!
18 December 2005
- Massive ninth-Doctor updates: new pages on the ninth Doctor, Rose, Adam, Jack, Cassandra, the Gelth, Slitheen, Jagrafess, and Reapers. And updates to a whole host of others. Roll on David Tennant!
04 September 2005
- Review added: The Enemy Within, which also marks my first review milestone: finishing one for each season of the show. Bring on Round 2!
29 May 2005
Okay, this one was a long time coming... it took me a while to figure out one of the quotes in Planet of the Spiders was by Barnes, so I've been backlogging the other reviews until I could get that one done!
25 July 2004
- Six years to the day after I began this site, it's finally being launched. And just in time for me to prepare for massive updates once the adventures of the ninth Doctor start airing. That would've been a cool thing to know about six years ago, huh?
Back to the main page.
